It being my last year at VMCCA, it was a PLEASURE having an art class with Mrs. Schumann. She's taught me SO much, taught me skills I thought I would never be able to perform, and I've enjoyed every single piece I've created in her class. I've enjoyed working with different types of media throughout the semester, especially the techniques that came along with working with a different media each time. I loved that we got to choose our own theme for each art piece.
My most successful project was my soft pastel work Vale. This piece came out very detailed and I just love the cool colors on this piece. I don't know about the audience, but this piece made me feel as if I were actually there, so peaceful and calming. I loved the energy I was receiving from this piece during the process of creating it & staring at it when I was all done with it.
A media I enjoyed working with this semester would have to be weaving with my end piece Golden Dreams. The whole weaving process was very calming, something I would definitely do again or even on my free time. You can do so many different patterns and pieces with weaving. It was my first time weaving an art piece of my own, and I LOVED it!
One piece that I feel I overcame obstacles with would be Weeping Cherry Blossom. I love working with watercolor, but I just feel like this piece was way too bland for me. In the end, though, I overcame that feeling of "blandness" when I added more colors to my piece. I love how it looks.
This is my third year in art and I'm super excited for my future projects in this course. I'm determined to use what I've learned in art, and incorporate those skills into my future art pieces. I'm ready to do this!
